Cost of hospital reviews revealed

Regular reviews into the Island's healthcare facilities since 2013

Almost a quarter of a million pounds has been spent on inspecting Island healthcare facilities over the last five years.

The West Midlands Quality Review Service has conducted regular visits here since 2013.

Concerns raised in its most recent review last October included long waiting times for chronic pain appointments, and an overall 'governance issue' across the DHSC.

A Tynwald written question from Keys Speaker Juan Watterson this week has revealed the cost of the reviews to date has been just shy of £226,000.

The health minister, David Ashford, recently confirmed he was progressing plans to appoint a formal regulator to carry out future reviews.
