Government gives safety assurances
The person who tested positive for Covid-19 today was detected through a screening test on admission to Noble's Hospital.
The individual was already self-isolating for 14 days having recently returned from a medical appointment in the UK, and was being admitted to Noble's "for a separate, unrelated condition."
In a statement, government said: "appropriate safeguards are in place at the hospital to protect care professionals, patients and visitors, including enhanced personal protective equipment and patients with Covid-19 being cared for on a separate ward."
"If the patient is discharged within their period of self-isolation, they will continue to isolate at home."
This person's isolation period has been extended by a further 14 days, including any other members of the household.
