Covid-19 reproduction rate stays the same

One further coronavirus-related death recorded in weekly surveillance report

The level of Covid-19 infection on the Isle of Man has stayed the same this week.

One further person though has died as a result of the pandemic.

The Island's reproduction rate - otherwise known as the 'R' number - remains at 0.4.

Despite that, there's been a decrease in case numbers across all age groups.

However, Public Health admits that, because testing people for Covid is "expensive and intrusive", at best, only a proportion of the population will be tested.

This has likely contributed to a further decrease in the seven day average daily reporting from 73 to 41.

This week's report though also includes the latest from the Waste Water Surveillance pilot project, which Public Health says offers a way to sample across the population.

These results show there's been no significant change this week compared to last week.

The number of people currently in hospital with the virus isn't available this week due to small numbers.

One more person has died in a Covid-related death, taking the pandemic total to 111.
