COVID: 40% eligible residents vaccinated

The figure is more than double in care homes

Over 4,000 Covid vaccine booster jabs were administered during walk-in sessions over a four-day period in Douglas last week.

Figures produced by Manx Care also show that over 1,000 seasonal flu vaccines were administered in the same period.

People can request to have both their autumn Covid booster and seasonal flu jabs at the same time.

Manx Care says that currently around 40 per cent of people who are eligible for their vaccine have been for their dose.

For people aged 75 and over the figure is over 80 per cent and for residents in care homes it's over 95 per cent.

Take-up rates elsewhere in the UK vary widely.

Glamorgan boasts the highest figures with other areas - including London - considerably lower.

The autumn campaign is ongoing and those eligible are asked to book online.
