Start of final Tynwald sitting of current administration to get underway
Subject ranging from the ongoing Covid pandemic, the operation of the meat plant and the future of libraries will all be discussed by Manx politicians today (20 July).
This morning will see the start of the final Tynwald sitting of the current administration
First on the agenda will be the election of a new Tynwald president after current president Steve Rodan announced earlier this year he would be standing down.
Meanwhile, a variety of motions are expected to be debated covering matters such as the tender process for the Island’s meat plant, the provision of local library services and a proposal to create a COVID-19 memorial garden.
Some key reports are also being published such as the 2020 financial accounts of the Steam Packet Company and the annual report by the constabulary’s Chief Constable, Gary Roberts.
When it comes to questions from members, there are 90 to be considered this month with 45 of those for written response.
Among the queries will be financial support for businesses affected by Covid-19 self-isolation requirements, COVID-19 vaccines and availability of them to those under the age of 18 and residential care in the west of the Island.
