Three unions are threatening strike action in the new year

The education minister has pledged to re-visit a pay agreement with teachers amid the threat of a strike in the new year.

It was announced on Tuesday that three unions have served legal notice of their intention to ballot members over industrial action.

Those in the profession claim they're earning 30 per cent less in real terms than ten years ago, while the department says that's due to a deal signed in 1992.
