Infrastructure Minister provides update in Tynwald
The infrastructure minister says due diligence is still ongoing into the energy company Crogga, which is seeking to extract gas from the Isle of Man’s seabed.
Crogga’s application for a licence variation, which would enable it to begin drilling a vertical appraisal well ahead of completing a 3D seismic survey, remains pending.
Although the due diligence checks have not been finalised, licence extensions have been granted while the department reviews the application.
Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas questions whether this is the correct approach:
Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall responding, saying he doesn't believe it is a failing of due diligence.
