Cruise ships' shop for Manx produce

Pop-up store targets overseas visitors

The appetites of an estimated 10,000 passengers arriving on the Island from cruise ships will now be catered for at the Sea Terminal in Douglas.

This weekend a new pop-up shop boasting the best of Manx food, drink and crafts will appear next to the cruise welcome desk.

Organised by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture as part of its 'Food Matters' strategy, the store will be run by the non-profit cooperative MostlyManx.

A record twenty seven cruise ships are expected to visit the Island this summer, with the first, Le Soleal, arriving this Saturday.

MHK Martyn Perkins says sending Manx-made goods across the globe will promote the quality of local produce and boost the economy.
