IOMCGA responds after host bid dropped by Gold Coast
The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association says there's still hope for the future of the event.
Australia's Gold Coast has dropped its bid for the 2026 games and there are signs it could be the first time the event will be missed since the Second World War.
In 2022, 34 competitors from the Isle of Man travelled to Birmingham for the games.
It was the Island's 17th appearance with Mark Cavendish and Laura Kinley acting as flagbearers during the opening ceremony.
Manx athletes are being encouraged to keep training in the hope that another nation will take over hosting duties.
President of the IOMCGA Basil Bielich told Manx Radio the event has always been a great opportunity for Manx athletes:
