Priority mail and parcels will take precedence in contingency plan
The Chair of the Post Office says the CWU hasn't proposed a realistic working alternative to what's on the table.
Julie Edge was speaking as the first of two days of planned industrial action takes place by workers today (Thurs).
She says talks have been ongoing on the pension issue for the last 18 months and they have negotiated with their sponsoring department, namely the Department of Enterprise.
However, she said a lot of postal workers were still on the floor today dealing with the post and they would do their best to deliver as many items as possible, though priority mail and parcels would take precedence.
Speaking on this morning's Mandate, Ms Edge says talks will continue through today, as CWU Deputy General Postal, Terry Pullinger, is due to leave the Island this evening.
