Well-known Manx broadcaster David Callister passes away

84-year-old started radio career in 1965

Former Manx Radio broadcaster and Tynwald member David Callister has died at the age of 84.

He made his first appearance on Manx Radio as a guest in 1965, and went on to present current affairs programme Mandate for 17 years, and was also known as the voice of the Mannin Line and Kelly's Eye.

Having anchored Manx Radio's coverage of the House of Keys and Tynwald, Mr Callister went on to serve as a member of the Island's parliament, having been elected as a Member of the Legislative Council in 2008.
