David was man of 'real stature'

Funeral of popular Manxman

A well respected figure in Island life and a larger than life character will be laid to rest this lunchtime.

David Saunders, who passed away last week at the age of 71, enjoyed a distinguished business career, most notably in the banking industry.

He was also a key supporter of local sports teams, particularly through involvement with St George's Football Club and Cronkbourne Cricket Club.

The funeral service will be held at 1pm at St Ninian's Church in Douglas, followed by private cremation.

Long-time friend Sir Miles Walker said David had 'the personal touch', and was a man of 'real stature'.
