New homes and border security on the agenda
The second and final day of this year's Isle of Man Government conference is due to get underway today.
The event is taking place at the Comis Hotel and is described as an open platform to engage with government representatives on strategic priorities crucial to business.
With around 400 people in attendance, Tuesday's proceedings focussed on finances, travel and health.
'I know there's been some ups and downs, but we're still offering a great deal of stability' - Chief Minister Alfred Cannan
Opening the Conference, Chief Minister announced plans to increase the level of financial support that's available for first-time buyers.
But with a year to go before next year's general election, does the Manx population expect bigger and bolder statements and policies from government?
Manx Radio's Political Correspondent Phil Gawne has been speaking to Chief Minister Alfred Cannan:
A key theme of Conference Day One was travel and connectivity.
This week the Department of Infrastructure published its ten-year Transport Strategy, outlining how it plans to improve road safety, support active travel and create better external links to and from the Island.
It aims to cut the number of deaths and serious injuries on the Island's roads, improve accessibility to transport and encourage more people to take part in active travel - walking and cycling.
Phil spoke with Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood about this:
On the agenda today at the government conference; more on plans for 1,000 new homes, a Q&A session on what it means to live in a biosphere, and the Justice and Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson will deliver a presentation on her Department's securing our Island strategy - all about border security.
