Mannin Retail outlines way forward
The company appointed to run Ramsey's post office says its strong position as a retailer in the town will ensure high street postal services into the future.
Mannin Retail was chosen to run a sub post office from its Spar store last November, after Isle of Man Post announced the closure of Crown offices in Douglas and Ramsey.
But the firm was dropped after a Cooperative group said it could run a sub post office, retaining the Courthouse building.
When the group failed to reach a deal with the Post Office, the contract was re advertised and this week, a new bid from Mannin Retail was accepted.
Mannin Retail's managing director Peter Whittacker says operating a profitable shop alongside the sub post office is the way forward:
Main road between Peel and Douglas to shut for tree felling
'Targeted and intelligence led approach' to protect Island's borders during Irish sailings
Airport Director role advertised with top salary of £120,000
Traders on Michael Street feel 'abandoned' by politicians in tough times
