
The owner of the Strand Shopping Centre says he aims to secure new retailers for Douglas town centre within the next week.
Businessman Brian Eaton who bought the shopping mall last year, says he's in the final stage of negotiations with Tesco to bring a convenience store to a premier unit facing the high street, which is currently empty.
Mr Eaton says he has interest from other potential tenants for the unit, including a UK toy store chain.
It's understood the supermaket giant has been on the look out for possible new sites, since being refused planning permission to extend its Lake Road store.
Speaking on Manx Radio today (14 Feb) Mr Eaton said Tesco has been making inquiries about establishing an outlet in the Strand centre for some time:
