DEFA dismisses application to delist Cosy Nook

Port Erin building will continue to have registered status

An application to remove a cafe in the south of the Island from the registered building list has been dismissed.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says the Cosy Nook in Port Erin will remain protected.

The beachside cafe was added to the registered building list earlier this year after Port Erin Commissioners submitted plans to demolish it.

The board unveiled controversial plans to replace it with an art deco-style building which were met with resistance from the public.

Just weeks after the structure was given protected status the commissioners applied to have it delisted - but that has now been turned down by the planning board.

The local authority is still keen to carry out work at the site to reopen the facility which has been closed since 2019.
