Delay to fees debate will aid understanding of situation

The Chief Minister hopes a delay to the tuition fees debate will give politicians a more rounded understanding of the position.

Politicians were next week due to vote on proposals where students would have to pay at least £2,500 per year towards their university fees from next September.

However, the issue has been deferred until January after members of the public and a number of MHKs voiced concerns.

Allan Bell says government was happy to consider a request for more time.
