Delays for Ben again

Problems continue at Heysham port

Ferry crossings are continuing to be affected by problems at Heysham port.

During the recent stormy weather, a large piece of timber has become embedded on the sea bed at the entrance to the port, causing problems for vessels coming in to dock.

It means vessels can only approach and leave the port at high tides.

Authorities there are trying to deal with the issue, but say it will be tomorrow (Sun) at the earliest before they can try and remove the obstruction.

The Steam Packet says the problem has a knock-on affect for today's (Sat) Birkenhead sailings.

This morning's 8am sailing will now leave an hour later at 9, with the return also delayed an hour until 3pm.
