Road closure in place from January as hotel plans take shape
Demolition of the former Salvation Army Citadel in Douglas will get underway next month.
The site, in the heart of the capital, is to be transformed into a new 44-bed hotel.
From 6 January to 21 February a section of Church Street lane, just off Lord Street, will be closed whilst the demolition works take place.
With six-storeys, including a basement and rooftop plant room, will include a reception, office, bar and store and a restaurant.

The building itself has been vacant since 2017 after the Salvation Army moved to its new headquarters in Braddan.
On the protected buildings register, an appeal was lodged against the citadel's demolition but was unsuccessful.
In 2019 Douglas Council placed it on the dilapidated properties list.
