Demystifying the Manx accent

Natives still needed for major research project

A liguist conducting a study of the Manx dialect says it's thrown up some 'interesting' discoveries so far.

Andrew Booth has spent months recording and analysing Island residents' speech patterns as part of a PhD at the University of Westminster.

His preliminary conclusions suggest the 'typical' Manx accent varies widely from town to town, and between the young and old.

Andrew says he's still on the lookout research participants.
