Dippers ready to make a splash on New Year's Day

Events taking place around the Manx coast

Hundreds of Manx residents will be starting the New Year with a dip in the Irish Sea.

The traditional New Year's Day dips are taking place on beaches around the Island, starting in the south with the Port St Mary Chapel Bay dip at 10am.

That will be the first of four events for those taking part in the Southern Dippers Santander Splash in aid of Isle Listen, which finishes at Port Erin at 12:15pm.

Those in Ramsey and Castletown will take to the water at 11am, while two of the biggest dips - Douglas and Peel - get underway at 12pm.

Many of those taking part will be doing so in fancy dress, raising money for a variety of charities.

Manx Radio will be live at the Peel dip this lunchtime.
