New rules as Claddagh opens to some tomorrow
You can be fined up to £2,500 for camping at the Sulby Claddagh without a permit, which must be purchased online.
The site is reopening to motorhomes and caravans tomorrow, with tent camping allowed from a fortnight later, when the toilet facilities will be unlocked again.
You need to book a pitch via Eventbrite, which can be found at gov.im/camping or by emailing forestry@gov.im.
The area is normally available between May and September, but so far this year has been off limits due to Covid-19 restrictions.
New changes there include a permanent on-site warden, check-in and check-out times, plus limiting and spacing of camping pitches to comply with health and safety standards as well as current byelaws.
The Claddagh is available to all during the day for picnics and recreation.
