Diverse issues drive food bank reliance

Govt will work with third sector - Quayle

The chief minister says a broad review is needed of problems which lead Island residents to seek help from a food bank.

Howard Quayle was asked in the Keys what government is doing to remove dependence on charity hand-outs.

The question from Onchan MHK Rob Callister came after the Island's Food Bank revealed around 10 people are requesting their help each week.

Mr Quayle said government couldn't solve the problem on its own, but would work with the third sector.

He said there's no quick fix, as those driven to seek help for immediate needs are affected by different factors:
