MHK says regulation would provide additional level of protection for users
Tynwald will be asked to consider whether the Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority could act as a regulator for the Steam Packet Company.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will seek support for CURA to assess the possibility of regulating the government-owned ferry operator when Tynwald sits in January.
Mr Moorhouse's motion says this would provide an additional level of protection for users.
CURA currently regulates a range of services, including mobile networks, gas tariffs and TV and radio.
