Dog racing back at Cronky Sports

Popular rural event this afternoon

Alongside all the national celebrations, a rural celebration of the Manx national day takes place this afternoon, just up the road from St John's.

Cronk-y-Voddy Sports gets under way from 12.30pm, when the legendary marquee opens for refreshments.

The traditional sports  - ranging from the egg and spoon event and cycle racing, to adults' wheelbarrow race and tug-of-war - start at 2pm.

All proceeds to to charity - and Jim Caine from organisers the Cronk y Voddy Ploughing Society says people will be delighted to hear the all-comers dog racing is back: (play audio)

Cronk-y-Voddy Sports is open to all, and all proceeds this year will go to Bridge the Gap.
