Bus Vannin currently trialling eCitaro
The Isle of Man is ‘very early on’ in considering electric options for bus travel.
That’s the view of the Department of Infrastructure which is currently trialling an electric bus on Manx roads.
The Mercedes eCitaro is being assessed for suitability - Bus Vannin has purchased no new vehicles since 2019.
Minister Chris Thomas told Manx Radio infrastructure changes would also be needed to ensure the electric buses could be charged:
