Two-day conference being held this week
The Chief Executive of Victim Support says domestic abuse 'is a big issue on the Island' with police receiving an average of up to two referrals a day.
A conference is going to be held on Wednesday (10 September) and Thursday (11 September) to break down taboos around domestic violence.
Lorna Trevathan says it's the first conference solely focused on showcasing the seriousness of domestic abuse, the impact it can have on people and what support is available.
She told Manx Radio while the charity is seeing an increase in people seeking assistance, it doesn't necessarily mean more people are becoming victims:
