'Don't treat roundels like roundabouts' say police

Should be treated as 'unmarked junctions'

Motorists are being warned the new roundels on Douglas Promenade are not roundabouts.

Police say they've had a number of queries about the new road layout.

Officers say the two roundels should be treated as 'unmarked junctions' as defined in the Highway Code.

Motorists are asked to approach them 'slowly, smoothly and giving way to other road users'.

In a post on social media they say the promenade has been designed to be a shared space and many of the features are designed to reduce speed.
