FOI by Manx Taxpayers Alliance reveals costs

Douglas Council spent more than £24,000 attempting to defend itself in an employment tribunal.

The authority was found to have unlawfully deducted a gully worker's pay while he was stuck abroad during the first coronavirus lockdown last year.

William Pye was awarded more than £5,000.

A freedom of information request by the Manx Taxpayers Alliance has revealed the authority spent £24,255 on the case.

The council has been contacted for comment.
