The local authority has events planned during the year to celebrate
Douglas Council will be installing RNLI flags along the promenade as part of its 200th anniversary.
They will be provided by the charity at no cost to the local authority and will alternate with the Manx versions.
The local authority says it replaces the flags every two years for £2,000 and is built into the council's work schedule.
Councillor Falk Horning says events have also been planned to commemorate the lifesaving charity's efforts throughout the years:
Friday evening sailings subject to possible disruption or cancellation
More services to be temporarily relocated from Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital
Warning in place for coastal overtopping
Port St Mary father continues to fight for change in drug laws
