Douglas Council using reserves to pay for 'decorative' promenade lighting

The project will cost £40,000 for 28 LED lights

Douglas Council is using its reserves to pay for 'decorative' LED lighting on the new promenade sea wall. 

The £40,000 project was originally planned to be funded from a street lighting revenue budget, however this no longer exists. 

The lights will 'illuminate' 28 art works along the wall and materials for this will be purchased together to 'avoid' inflationary cost increases.

Chair of the Environmental Services Committee Falk Horning says the lights will be 'marine grade':
