Douglas Council will not revert back to once a week collections

Public meeting held on Monday night

Douglas Council is 'trying to do what's best' for its residents with the introduction of the fortnightly bin collection service.

The statement was made by Council Leader Claire Wells at last nights public meeting.

However, the residents at the meeting were largely unhappy with the new service.

One person in the audience asked 'where are the reviews?' of the service.

In response, Councillor Falk Horning, said they would start publishing reviews and surveys redacting any information that breaches GDPR laws.

There were also questions raised in regards to an increase in rodents in people's lofts, to which Claire Wells said there has been no increase in reports to Environmental Health.
