Douglas fireworks tonight, subject to gear test

New firing unit being flown over

Subject to a piece of kit being tested at lunchtime, the fireworks in Douglas are set to go ahead at 7.30pm.

They were due to take place on Saturday night, but were postponed following a problem with the firing unit.

People waited in vain for almost an hour after their scheduled start time, before the postponement was announced.

The managing director of the company organising the display is flying over with the replacement gear this morning.

He will test it himself before giving the go ahead.

Meanwhile, Port Erin Commissioners have already confirmed their postponed display will take place tomorrow evening at 7.30pm.
