Douglas man to be sentenced after fight outside nightclub

Admitted assault charge during court appearance

A Douglas man will be sentenced next month over his part in a fight outside a nightclub.

Thirty-two-year-old Caleb James Machonna Stowell, of Cronk Y Berry View, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.

He admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm outside 1886 Bar and Grill on Regent Street in Douglas.

CCTV captured the incident which happened at around 8.45pm on 27 November.

Stowell had been drinking on a night out when he spotted a man arguing with one of his friends.

He walked over to intervene and the man headbutted him in the face – magistrates heard he's also facing charges over the incident.

Door staff broke up the fight but Stowell went back and pushed the man over before punching him in the face a number of times.

He was bailed and is due to appear in court again for sentencing on 31 March.
