Youngster also accused of assaulting police officers
A teenager from Douglas used his own blood to scrawl obscenities on the walls of a cell at Police Headquarters, a court’s heard.
The 14-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He’s accused of using threatening words or behaviour and assaulting police officers on 14 July, but hasn’t entered pleas to the charges.
The court heard the boy was at Noble’s Hospital being treated for a cut when he became extremely aggressive under the influence of drink or drugs.
Staff in the Accident and Emergency Unit called police and evacuated people from the waiting room when the youngster began screaming and swearing before kicking two police officers.
As he was taken into custody, he spat repeatedly into the back of a police van and spat at an officer when he arrived at Police Headquarters.
Once in a cell, he threw a cup of water over another officer and also used his blood to write on a wall.
Magistrates refused to grant him bail and instead remanded him to secure accommodation to appear again on 22 July.
The boy shouted abuse as he was led from the dock by security staff.
