38-year-old tells court she doesn't want to waste taxpayers' money
A Douglas woman who was caught with 1.6 grams of cannabis has been fined £300.
Katie Ann Glover, of Anagh Coar Road, admitted possessing the Class B substance during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
Police had executed a search warrant at the 38-year-old’s property on 23 August – recovering cannabis with a street value of £32; she told officers it was for her own personal use.
Glover’s advocate told the court she was using the drug to help with anxiety and that any fine would have to be paid after she’d finished paying an existing fine for a separate offence.
Addressing the deputy high bailiff herself Glover added: “I don’t want to waste anymore taxpayers’ money.”
In response James Brooks replied: “The best way to stop wasting taxpayers’ money is to stop committing criminal offences.”
Glover was also ordered to pay £50 in prosecution costs.
