Drink driver to be sentenced next month

Douglas man admits string of driving charges

A Douglas man who has admitted two charges of drink driving, one of driving without insurance and one of failing to provide a breath sample will be sentenced next month.

Thirty-six-year-old Stanko Violetov Sokolov, of Mona Drive, was seen by police struggling to park outside The Outback nightclub on Barrack Street, Douglas, at 1.10am on December 6.

He failed a roadside breath test, and then failed to provide samples when officers wanted to test him at police headquarters.

Then, at around 3.20am on February 21 this year, Sokolov was stopped by police while walking on Empire Terrace in Douglas, following a report he had driven a car from a party, after drinking there.

At the time, he denied he had driven his car, despite officers noticing its tyres were still warm and the road surface underneath it was wet.

He failed a breath test at the scene, and a further one back at the station.

Sokolov has been bailed by Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes, who requested a Probation Service report.

He's due to be sentenced on April 19.
