31-year-old also fined £1,000
A Douglas man has been banned from the road after being caught driving with two types of drug in his system.
Bobby Michael Williams, of Willaston Crescent, admitted being over the legal limit during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
Police stopped the 31-year-old on 12 August last year after concerns were raised about the standard of his driving.
When they spoke to him his eyes were glazed, he was stumbling and slurring his words.
Breath and drug wipe tests were negative but due to their suspicions that Williams was unfit officers arrested him and he was taken to Police Headquarters.
Subsequent blood tests showed he was almost three times over the limit for Benzoylecgonine and almost double the limit for Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol.
Williams’ advocate told the court he’d taken a lot of prescription medication for varying ailments adding: "This is a man with complex mental health problems."
Magistrates fined Williams £1,000 and disqualified him from driving for two years telling him: "The Isle of Man takes driving with either drink or drugs very seriously."
They also ordered him to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
