Thirty-eight-year-old had been drinking a friend's wake
A Greeba man who'd drunk four vodkas intentionally crashed his car, a court's heard.
Thirty-eight-year-old John Paul Brummitt of Main Road appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted drink-driving on the Sloc Road on 19 February.
Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon said a passer-by alerted police after seeing a silver Mercedes estate had crashed.
When they got to the scene of the crash at 11.15pm, officers found Brummitt's car in a hedge at the side of the road.
The court heard Brummitt got out the passenger door and held his hands out towards police – he later told them he'd been drinking at a friend's wake in Port Erin.
At police headquarters, a breath test showed he was more than one and a half times the legal limit.
He was fined £900 and ordered to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
Mrs Hughes also disqualified Brummitt from driving for two years.
