Change of venue for Ballacottier

The final week of term before the Easter break is proving an unusual one for youngsters at Ballacottier Primary School.

Pupils and staff are upping sticks and moving into Fairfield school in the capital, one of the Island's oldest facilities, which has been mothballed since closing last summer.

The swap follows an outbreak of norovirus at Ballacottier last week, which has affected almost a third of the school community.

A clean-up last weekend did not go far enough, and a full decontamination of the premises is now underway.

Director of Education Geoff Moorcroft says despite the change of location, it's school business as usual:
