£5,000 technology donation bridges isolation gap
The health minister has thanked a Manx charity for providing iPads and phones to end-of-life care patients at Hospice Isle of Man.
The Rotary Club of Douglas Lockington Marshall Fund has donated £5,000 to buy the tablets and mobiles.
It's so people receiving palliative care on the Island can stay in touch with loved ones remotely, during Covid-19 restrictions.
Club President Anthony Pugh said whilst electronic communication 'cannot replace the hug of a loved one', the club hoped it could ease the pain of otherwise not being able to say goodbyes.
David Ashford said the donation would 'help provide some comfort' to those receiving end-of-life care, and their families.
Government's coronavirus measures mean visits to the Hospice, nursing homes and hospitals on the Island have been severely restricted.
