Education and transport questions dominate Keys

Eleven questions for oral answer at this week's sitting

Home education, vehicle emissions and changes to the Island's bus service are among the topics to feature during questions at this morning's House of Keys sitting.

Eleven questions for oral answer feature on the order paper, with a further ten for written answer.

Education Minister Graham Cregeen faces a busy morning as Arbory, Castletown and Malew member Jason Moorhouse has tabled a series of questions on home education, including details of GCSE performance by students who learn at home.

Douglas East MHK Clare Bettison will ask Mr Cregeen for predicted numbers at the two Douglas high schools over the next seven years with and without the proposed changes to the catchment area for Scoill yn Jubilee.

Middle MHK Bill Shimmins is seeking details about vehicle emissions testing, and will ask Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey what equipment is used to test Isle of Man Constabulary vehicles.

He has a similar query for Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer.

Mr Harmer will also be asked to provide a statement on the upcoming changes to the bus services in the north of the Island by Ramsey member Lawrie Hooper.

It's one of a number of topics put forward by Mr Hooper, who also has questions on the living wage, recommendations made by the coroner of inquests, and pay for postal workers.

You can hear coverage of House of Keys questions on Manx Radio's AM1368 frequency, or via 'Listen AM' at manxradio.com or the smartphone apps from 10am.
