Safeguarding Board shares findings
The education minister has apologised to parents for the ‘anguish’ caused after the conviction of a former youth worker.
A complex abuse inquiry was launched by the Isle of Man Safeguarding Board following the court case in March 2018.
The man, who was commissioned to paint a mural at St Mary's Primary School in 2016, was convicted for possession of indecent images of children.
Parents have now received a ‘general overview’ of the findings and recommendations from Dr Alex Allinson.
The inquiry found 'rapid' improvements have been at the school over the last two years, and it is 'clearly demonstrating a commitment to keep pupils safe'.
Education bosses says 'lessons have also been learnt about how anxieties and complaints from concerned parents are managed'.
Those improvements are being monitored by the Safeguarding Board to 'prevent a similar situation happening again'
