Education minister defends stance on Etio report

Daphne Caine adamant against demands to release details

The education minister has brushed off repeated demands from MHKs that she release details to the public of the Etio report into Manx schools.

Last month, Daphne Caine asked not to answer a written Tynwald question on the cost of an external review into Island schools, arguing it would be 'contrary to the public interest.'

The minister's request was then upheld by the President of Tynwald, Laurence Skelly.

Etio has been commissioned to produce three publications between October 2023 and July 2026.

The first of those was published in April this year offering a number of recommendations for improvement in all age groups.

Ms Caine came under repeated attack on the subject in the House of Keys this week but she remained adamant that her stance was the right one.
