Closure times questioned by local business
The Mountain Road is to close tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday 22 November) between 1pm and no later than 3.30pm.
It's to allow for 'some urgent works to take place'.
The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed it will be shut on the southern end, from the Bungalow to the Creg Ny Baa.
The Creg Ny Baa will be accessible from Douglas/Onchan via Hillberry, and from Laxey/Onchan via the Creg Ny Baa Back Road.
The Victory Café will be accessible from Ramsey and Sulby via the Tholt Y Will.
It's a move not welcomed by the Victory Café team, who are questioning the closure times.
In a comment on the DOI's Facebook post, the Café's page said: "It is rare that I complain, because I recognise how important road maintenance is, but...... please could you explain why this closure is between 1pm and 330pm. Why cant it be 9.30am and 12pm. This wrecks our lunchtime trade during one of the quietest months of the year."
The DOI says it has spoken to the Victory Café team 'in person' regarding the concerns.
