Emergency services are 'storm ready'

Chief fire officer confident in rescue teams

The Island's emergency response crews are better prepared than ever to deal with severe weather events, according to a senior firefighter.

Storms have caused a number of incidents over the last week, ranging from felled trees to road traffic accidents.

On Saturday, a man was rescued uninjured after his van was swept away in fast-moving water at Garey Ford in Lezayre.

It's triggered a reminder to be especially cautious near rivers during storms.
