Public urged to stay away from the area
The emergency services have been dealing with an incident in the area of the gas tanks near Douglas Lifeboat Station.
Police urged the public to avoid the area and not to watch from Douglas Head for a time, but the crews attending the scene have now stood down.
Fire crews and police arrived at the scene at around 7pm, with the police confirming the area to be safe just before 8.30pm.
An update from the Isle of Man Constabulary confirmed water vapour seen rising from the area was as a result of the fire fighting equipment at the sight being activated. An investigation into why it activated is underway.
