MHK questions decision to scrap initiative to help Manx residents buy homes
An MHK believes the decision to scrap a scheme designed to help Manx residents get on the property ladder goes against government's housing targets.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew member Tim Glover raised concerns in this month's Tynwald sitting over the ending of the mid-rent initiative in Colby.
The scheme was designed to allow tenants to save money for a deposit to buy a house while renting, but just three applicants managed to do so in the five years it was running.
But Mr Glover says the recently-published report into the Island's housing needs calls for mid-rent options:
