Equality law advice offered to Island companies

Employers in the Isle of Man are being urged to wise-up on equality-at-work issues before new legislation arrives.

Currently, there are laws to ensure men and women are treated equally but none governing discrimination on grounds of age, race, disability, religion or sexual orientation.

An Equality Act covering all types of discrimination is on the way.

Both private and public sector organisations must ensure they have the right policies in place to enforce it in the workplace.

A seminar hosted by the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce last week aimed at local firms has pressed the need for action ahead of the legislation.
