Guernsey and Jersey to learn from Manx Gaelic revitalisation

The Isle of Man's pioneering approach to reviving Manx Gaelic will be highlighted at the annual Ned Maddrell lecture this afternoon.

The free event will focus on language revitalisation in Guernsey and Jersey, drawing comparisons with the process here.

The lecture will be led by University of London academic Julia Sallabank, who teaches language revitalisation.

Although the Channel Islands, like the Isle of Man, have appointed language officers to promote their native tongue, there are key differences in approach.

The lecture at St John's Mill starts at 2pm.
